I want to go to Croatia in October for a holiday. Has anyone been and can they tell me what to expect in terms of value for money for food and drink, weather, friendliness olf the locals, etc. I'm planning to stay in one of the coastal resorts on the Adriatic.
I've heard that it is very nice, most of the locals have rudamentory english, and the place is geared towards tourism....so it's all there for you.
I went to Makarska on the Adriatic coast in the '80s.
I remember the mountains almost swept down to the beach & there were some incerdibly dramatic thunderstorms in the evenings.
We went to Dubrovnik & somewhere called Mostar & I recall the temp got to 38c+ & we nearly passed out!
I enjoyed my time there & would definitely go there again just to see how it's changed.

As for prices : Cofee about an Euro, pizza about 5 euro. In the decent restourants you can eat from let's say 10-15 euro per person.. Food in stores is still pretty cheap compared to European standards, but not as much as one could think.
As for hospitality and friendliness, come to Istria (semi-island on the north-western part of the country), we are much mure friendly than people in Dalmatian area. 😵
