After making a bowl of boiled rice I noticed some black pudding in the fridge that needed using. Fried up and mixed into the rice might not sound appealing (and I had a jar of mayo to hand and tomato ketchup available to rescue the situation). Didn't need to add anything. Succulent and tasty.
Made me wonder if anybody else had stumbled on any interesting combinations with the current limitations on shopping?

I am experimenting with replacing all water with sauces for meat cooking.
For example: Instead of slow cooking a roast in water and veggies I cook it in sauce.
Everyone loves it and the meat tastes better and is very tender
The bad side is the added cost..
Oh and one last thing ...
Shut up Rusty!
@very-rusty saidThey eat in between the walks.
Why can't you guys go out for walks instead of eating to pass the time?

@the-pickled-walrus saidIf you can drown out the background noise, tell us what you tried?

@petewxyz saidSteaks submerged in Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce and basically they boiled in the oven in a pot of relatively expensive sauce considering how much I used.

It turned out great 🤗
Tender and tasted great.
I also cooked pork chops submerged in BBQ sauce with veggies.
The BBQ sauce boiled away quickly but pork cooks fast.
I didn't eat those veggies because they were just there to add flavour.
It tasted better than any BBQ pork that I have paid for at restaurants.
I cooked a chicken in teriyaki sauce and it was good too.
I had to keep basting it though but it was worth it.
I won't do this a lot because of the cost/waste but it was fun to experiment.
@the-pickled-walrus saidSounds good. Wonder what would happen if it was soaked in the source for a few hours before cooking?

@very-rusty saidObesity is probably more prevalent in people who eat badly rather than showing the restraint to take time preparing good food!
If you are going to eat then you have to exercise too or become obese, providing of course that you presently are not.

Played tennis badly in a local league up to last year. Too hard on the knees. Ran in the Northern Orienteering Champs two years ago. Always would get a slow finishing time but as long as I can still get out there and enjoy it, it's a social sport which connects me up with people from my past.
@petewxyz saidThe short version I exercise would have been fine! 😉
