Yes, "... all men are created equal" but only in the sight of the law. Otherwise near total genetic, social privilige, geographic, etc., inequality.

You see, I love this. However I am safe in the knowledge that if I tried to excercise my rights to abolish government I would end up in jail... Why we celebrate Guy Fawkes failing to blow up the houses of parliament is a mystery to me...

Same reason we celebrate Christopher Columbus getting lost and not having a clue where he was.

I've never entirely understood Guy Fawkes Day either.

Columbus is an interesting story. Excluding the Norse, who are obvious, but possibly including the Portugese, English, Scotish, Irish, French, and Dutch; I have long been fascinated by the list of people who may have beaten the misguided "discoverer" to these shores.

You're correct. My sense was that "to alter or abolish" would come into play.

There is alot of truth to that, but I'm sure they would also be pleased by our progress in many areas.

Jefferson might be dismayed by our lack of self-suffiency, but Franklin would certainly be amazed by our technological advancements.

so long as marijuana, cocaine, heroine, ... , or alcohol consumption before age 21 are involved, then yes, we can pursue happiness.

The items you mention are substitutes for happiness.

In many ways so are video games and internet chat rooms.

No one ever found happiness in a bottle or on an Xbox.
