@badradger saidHe does have a bit of a point.
you really are a horrid person
Especially about the NHS being underfunded and I'll add on the brink of collapse. In the not to distance future a lot of it, I'm talking non urgent will be privatized. In NI there's a 9 month wait for an MRI scan and in the end it's done by a private clinic paid by the NHS. That's not sustainable.
I've spent a lot of time in Colombia and dated two woman there, one a lawyer earning the equivalent of about £4k a month for a private oil company, a crazy amount for a country were the average wage is about £300 a month. The other was training to be a doctor, at the moment she's in a placement for her first year as a 'junior doctor', it's unpaid, they don't even pay for her accommodation and after the year the wage is only slightly higher than the average wage.
It's not just doctors pay that has went down I relation to inflation, it's most workers. Plus, the price is beans is a silly comparison.
@badradger said13 weeks holidays makes up for that I imagine. That'll be the allowance, plus if she's head of department she'll be on, what... Around 50-70k a year?
both my kids are teachers and love the job but not the pay, the daughter emigrated 8 years back and it now head of department.you make no allowance for the out of hours work that is needed my daughter marks on a night and has 2hrs preping before school starts.
@a-unique-nickname saidno its not

@badradger saidYes it is. The price of beans depends on many factors, energy prices, wages, as the minimum wage goes up factories need to charge more. Check what the minimum wage was in 2008 and compare it to today. Price of the tins varies as well... Silly to compare to doctors wages.
no its not
@a-unique-nickname saidit works with everything houses,food,alcohol......only drugs got cheaper.

@badradger saidNo it doesn't, houses change in price, up and down with demand and general changes to areas.

Beans are food, just in case you didn't know.
Alcohol goes under the bracket of 'food and drink'. So yes, the same as beans... But your mass produced 20 cans of piss water larger for £12 at Tesco hasn't really changed in price much over the years.
@A-Unique-Nickname house prices up 70% over the last 10 years, beer/lager up 30% over the same period, relly dont know what planet you live on.
@badradger saidMinimum wage almost doubled since 2008. I think bridging the gap between rich and poor can only be a good thing.

@badradger saidPlus, house prices depends on the area, your 70% increase if accurate would include places like London or the south coast which have become crazy, other areas the prices have gone up by a far smaller percentage. But... Like I said, house prices go up and down. They've already fallen this year, haven't they?

A 30% raise in beer is actually a reduction given wage increases.
