i rest my case, East is East. An Eastern women would never belittle someone in this way, Shes far too sensitive a creature for that. It should be a prerequisite that all European and American women are sent there for training in the gentler arts of womanhood, not to become the fiest mistresses and self opinionated ice maidens of the west!

Women might feel like they have failed.

Hey, Sunburnt, interesting that you actually defended mikelom there. I don't see much difference, to be honest.
I got that.
Robbie, however, had negatives to say about western women, has backpedaled and weakly defended his post at times in this thread. I said that I think it might have been received better had he also pointed out some of his wife's better traits if he was going to compare east to west and represent her as someone other than a charming cartoon stereotype. I think I refrained from calling names and being too harsh because I also know there is (hopefully) probably more to their relationship than that. I think there's a few differences in his post and Mike's post.
Originally posted by SunburntI didn't get that impression at all, but it's water under the bridge now so I don't want to get into that. Was just surprised how different your reactions were.

In what way have i belittled you, by posting an innocent comment about flicking through glossy magazines, saying that you should be sent for training to the east? Did you never seriously for one moment not think that that it might be simply goading you into a reaction, dont you make fun of each other in America? Perhaps its our egalitarian sensibil ...[text shortened]... t i take exception when it all starts to turn sinister and values are assigned where none exist.
belittling - check
rude - check
prejudiced - check
It seems that you are the one who is self opinionated since you can see no one else's opinion and are so incessantly rude to boot.
Originally posted by wormwoodI don't see the 'misunderstanding' really. robbie's views - as they came wriggling like worms out of a can in the wake of his chauvinist "joke" flop - are nigh on impossible to misunderstand.
17 pages of deliberate misunderstanding just to have a fight.
His sneering anger at the "new morality" of women's emancipation is pretty unambiguous;
how supporting independent, self-realised Asian women, he tells us, demeans them when their innate beauty stems from their self-effacing subservience;
how it is 'submission' or it is 'selfishness' with Asian women, and seemingly nothing in between;
how we are warned that more Asian women might walk out, self-seekingly, on their "loving husbands" if the stigma of divorce were to be reduced - and it's a stigma which is, of course, only visited upon the women in classic Asian-stylee;
the utter contempt for "self-opinionated", and therefore sexually unappealing, women like those in the "West";
...all pretty clear if you ask me. Where's the misunderstanding?
my conclusions
1. Yo its me: open minded, able to see both sides of an argument, does not take everything at face value, has eclectic taste in films.
2.mlprior: a little touchy, dont mention childbearing, sewing quilts or making blueberry pies, likely to be taken as chauvinism.
3.Huckleberryhound: thoroughly excellent character, has that rare ability to sincerely apologise for a misunderstanding, will in all likelihood be an excellent husband being able to say i am sorry when little imperfections arise.
4.Phlabbit: also an excellent character, able to see qualities in others and is not afraid to express appreciation for said qualities, will also likely make an excellent husband, commending his wife and children alike, for certainly, as humans we thrive on feeling loved and appreciated.
5.Woodgie: takes hyperbole to new depths of depravity, use of exaggerated references bordering on a heightened awareness, dont give hallucinogenic drugs, probably doesn't need them.
6.ChessPraxis, good chess player, budding poet, should seek inspiration from virtuous sources like southern gals
7.Mikeolm: wise and articulate, has the good sense to state his case and diplomatically leave, loves his wife.
8.Plankna : a gentlemen and a scholar, sensitive enough to care that his words should not be construed or taken out of context, will also probably make an excellent partner being sensitive to what others think.
9.Wormwood: also highly objective, has that rare quality of being able to assess a situation and extract it essential elements, will probably be an excellent chess player one day
10. FMF: Hypocrite and perv, must reduce everything from massage to a submissive disposition to a sexual level. Cynical attitude makes it difficult to see good in others. Best treated as one does a rattle snake (hit it over the head with a large implement and put its skin around your Stetson hat). Given to sensationalistic tabloid journalism. Would make a good editor for the News of the World.
11.Robbie carrobie: ragged clown who chases shadows, time would be better spent doing chess puzzles.
12:RBhill : likes southern girls
13.Very Rusty and Tomtom: those two old guys who used to sit on the balcony of the muppet show and make heckling remarks about the quality of the show. Who can blame them?

Originally posted by robbie carrobieTalking of your admitted 'chasing of shadows', where did I accuse you of having anything to do with "sex trafficking" or "enslavement"? Can you point out which posts of mine you are referring to?
i hope they do, for i think they shall realise, what a thoroughly scurrilous and disreputable character you are, to take something with no intent and to construe it in the sinister and perverted manner that you have, i mean, a porn script? sex trafficking? servitude and enslavement, muhaha, if that dont beat all. Indeed, i had been warned, by others, prior, but i know that you have only personal remarks and these are essentially ineffectual.
