Any suggestions for a decent handheld chess game for a kid? Does this look like junk?

Looks decent. I own a couple things by that company and they've been good quality (a chess clock + an electronic chess game). The stylus is bound to get lost though. Maybe something with screen-touch?

You're absolutely right about the stylus. You must have kids. I think I actually have an old stylus from a Palm iiiX from a hundred years ago....

If you go to Meijer you can get a magnetised child sized set for $1.00

It would encourage ODB play with the guys in the park and increased intensity of learning.

Just make sure you don't get an Australian lawyer.... 😏

I do have kids. That's why the stylus would be my only hesitation. Then again, new styli (?) are easy enough to come by.

Excalibur is a good brand though. Supposedly, their chess timer is the only one officially endorsed by the US Chess Federation.

I used ot have a Kasparov with some numbers after it.

I still have it someplace. It was pretty good.
