So I see. You're right of course but literal translations are usually funnier, though. 😀
However, I'm not too sure if I agree with you. I felt that our win was deserved and that Ecuador didn't look as if they would win - a goal maybe, but then we could have scored more too!
In a second though, in spite you deserved the win, IMHO should it been by a much greater difference, considering the trajectory of the England's team compared with that of Ecuador.
Or England has played weak, or Ecuador is a tough opponent.
Anyway, good luck in the next round!

I really expected more from England.

P.S.: "Más culo que cabeza" means "more buttt than head" ["more luck than intelligence"]. It is NOT intended to be offensive, only a very common spanish expression.
But the fact is, England did not lose. They won. The manner of their victory was not massively encouraging but then who cares? Playing like this we are not expected to progress much further, but nobody expected Greece to win Euro 2004. Nobody expected Liverpool to win the Champions League last year.
And guess what, Greece DID win Euro 2004.
You don't always have to be the best to win. Argentina may destroy us for 89 minutes but if we can cling on and get a freak goal it will be enough!
And I say we will.
England will win the World Cup! NOT because they are the best, but because sometimes, strange things happen.

we? i read somewhere you said you lived in n. ireland, explain the irish flag.
Originally posted by sevenstarYou are basing this on the premise that England are poor.
You suffer from delusion. It will be Holland's job to kick England out of the tournament in the next match, and then we will play Brazil....
😀
WAKEY WAKEY! WE KNOW! WE KNOW!
But we are in the quarter finals and you still have to beat Portugal! OK, you may do so and then you'll certainly fancy your chances, but we'll fumble our way into your box once or twice and Rooney will show that occasionally us English can play a bit too.

I have lived in Dublin and Galway but never the north.

.... in fact, the Mexicans looked as if they could pull off the one of the greatest upsets in recent world cup history since Pele's injury in 1966 (until that great goal in extra time)

That's a shakey premise to place a bet on but you've convinced me - bring on the strange things!
Lampard NEEDS to find the net.
This is why I'm so upbeat.
IF WE CAN GET TO THE QUARTERS PLAYING LIKE SUCH UTTER DONKEYS, SURELY, SURELY, THERE IS SOMETHING IN IT!

i might have got the wrong person, i think it was in the london meet-up thread.

I can explain the Italian flag, as a token gesture.
I believe:
Green is the land
Red is the wine
White are the people
Not sure it's very politically correct but that's what I've been told it represents.
Originally posted by asromacalcioIt's not a premise.... it's fact... and I'm just recalling how they were hardly able to beat Paraquay, were 0-0 after 80 minutes against Trinidad & Tobago and then this match this afternoon.... they aren't just poor, they are a blot on this World Cup
You are basing this on the premise that England are poor.

England won't be bothered about those two, they're both rubbish.
And Germany will send Argentina home - I'm surprised they've lasted this long to be honest. [they can't keep relying on help from the ref] 😉
