It's not a premise.... it's fact... and I'm just recalling how they were hardly able to beat Paraquay, were 0-0 after 80 minutes against Trinidad & Tobago and then this match this afternoon.... they aren't just poor, they are a blot on this World Cup
I agree, but we're in the quarter finals, and to all the footballing world I say simply, DEAL WITH IT!

And guess what, one more scrappy win and we're in the semis.

You starting to believe, guys?

I also support Italy. An amazing double life I lead down here. I get two chances to win this thing.

England cannot be assessed on what they have done so far. They have just done what they have had to do. The next game they will have work harder. I think they will work harder - but that will be the time to pass judgement.

How will the heat have affected them? Game's next Saturday - I guess that is quite a while for recovery. Let's hope we get some nice cold weather in ๐Ÿ™‚

It's 36° where I am too and trust me it's hard to perform in. I'm down nearly a minute on my cycling PB because of the heat, so we should make allowances for that. Sadly forecasts don't give a drop in temperature so it's something they have to deal with.

It should have been a greater difference, but it wasn't. Having said that, the Argentine win was by no means assured.

.... in fact, the Mexicans looked as if they could pull off the one of the greatest upsets in recent world cup history since Pele's injury in 1966 (until that great goal in extra time)
We agree again.
The night before the match Argentina-Mexico, I was thinking that the game could be a win for Mexico, after a tie and going to penalties.
But of course, there's always the random component, that makes this championship enjoyable. No math predictions here.
I think we were lucky against Mexico.
And I must to add that I fear our next encouter against Germany.

It's an 'early' game too next saturday. Was it a coincidence that England's best performance (1st half against Sweden) was in the cool night air? (Ignoring the second half ๐Ÿ™‚)

In all seriousness, is it possible to receive two yellows for time wasting in one game (therefore resulting in an ejection)?
So... has this ever happened in a WC game or not?

It's not only unoffensive but true. England are NOT a good side. They struggled against Paraguay and Trinidad, Sweden destroyed them for much of the game, and they were poor for much of today. Lampard's misses would have stayed with him forever had England lost.

But the fact is, England did not lose. They won. The manner of their victory was not mass ...[text shortened]... n the World Cup! NOT because they are the best, but because sometimes, strange things happen.
I agree, but similar appreciations could be applied to Argentina.
I would appreciate seeing the best team winning the Cup.
But it would be "emotionless" if that team doesn't get it bringing to us a nice show. That should be emotionless.
I'm being partial about this, 'cos I'm argentine.
I fear just now Germany.
I don't like to see pussy foot teams in the next matches!

Cheers

England is playing poorly, how surprising for the hype believers.

I don't believe the hype, just the dream. No dream = no dream come true!

Come on England!

You suffer from delusion. It will be Holland's job to kick England out of the tournament in the next match, and then we will play Brazil....

๐Ÿ˜€
You suffer from delusion, Holland's most likely going home tonight. In 9 games, you only beat us once. You play too innocently for teams like Portugal or Italy who use every trick in the book.

Well the problem you see is the book's written in Portuguese and as everyone knows Brits generally can't be arsed to learn another language!
