Perhaps you're right in that he did mature. I did not realize he is as young as he is when I called him a has been. He has the skills set and boundless energy. He did not show that at WC. Never for ...[text shortened]... hed his goal yesterday somewhat, but in effect was truly at the right spot at the right time.
I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree about most of the points you raise.

Only because your a saddo with an inferiority complex.

We are a small nation with an enourmous historical footprint, half the people on the planet do even realise that Scotland exists they think your English with a funny accent, sad but true.

You keep saying 'we' as if you speak for the whole of Scotland, I have Scottish relatives robbie I have been there a lot, you speak for a small bunch of religious and racist bigots who can only 'have love amongst yourselves'.

We gave the world a global language, a framework for commerce and law, historically we were one of the few cultures in the world who sat in the driving seat as we headed toward the 'global village'.

The reason I hate exchanging these jingoistic bs posts with members of 'Clan Gibson' like yourself is that I end up slagging off one of my favourite nations, and some relatives, so from now on I am gonna call a spade a spade and that does not include paying you the compliment of speaking to you as if you are Scottish, you robbie 'are no true Scotsman' and never will be.

You are soooo much better than us that you have to support a national team other than your own in every sport, just to have a chance of a hollow celebration, that amounts to nothing more than a jealous jeer?

Well done sir, I take my hat off to you. Long live your culture of deep fried mars bars, heart disease, alcoholism and a city with one of the highest murder rates in Western Europe.

Good spirit. That's the attitude to win something.
I thought I saw a tiny light at the end of the English football tunnel against France, but no. Still a bore to watch. But with Chelsea in mind...............

When was the last time anyone made a movie out of the brave deeds of an
Englishman? Like never, Disney have brought out a new animated film, entitled Brave,
where did its inspiration come from, Dudley? Northampton? Carlise?, nope Scotland!!!,
why? because the whole world knows its the land of the brave! Its too bad you Morris
dancers cannot produce anything but Mr Bean and dudes that dress up as nuns to
watch cricket, i mock your assertions and delusions of grandeur, your a small nation
trying to be big and the more vitriolic your posts come, the more i laugh, its clan
MacGregor btw, perhaps you have heard of us! and the dialect is lowland Scots.

its not a jealous jeer, its genuine happiness which comes from seeing your demise, a
subtle but never the less noteworthy difference. I have never had a deep fried Mars
bar, heart disease, remain essentially tea total except for the occasional beer or dram
of whiskey , usually at functions and nor have i ever been murdered although once or
twice ive had stitches due to fights, amazing that such stereotypes still exist in the
minds of the uninitiated! Our cultural heritage and sense of belonging is second to
none, not to mention a certain egalitarian sensibility and a loathing of pretence. Keep
morris dancing and singing god save the queen, who knows, maybe your Englishness
will come back?

... a crashing bore, so are the supporters. They cannot tell the difference between
taking the rip and getting personal, its a cultural failing on their part, in my opinion,
stemming from years of taking themselves too seriously.

I am fully aware that not all people fit biggotted stereotypes. It was merely an ironic reference to the ones that you keep diggin up. Sad thing is, you actually believe them where as I don't.

I can quite well believe you have had stitches due to being battered, although it does surprise me that this has only happened twice and that no one has in fact tried to murder you.

A bunch of Geordies in a mini bus spat all over me as i was riding along Great Western
road on my bike, I dare say they might have tried to murder me had they caught me!
But they didn't and I mock their stupid accents! I wasn't battered, but had a bottle
koshed over my head by some drunken ned.

Once again you prove yourself a member of clan Gibson, Robin Hood has been portrayed by Disney and more reputable production company's many many times, 'but he is a composite character of dubious historical accuracy' I hear you say, and you are probably correct, but guess what Robbie the character played by Mel Gibson (the well documented racist, wife beating, anti Semite bigot) and directed by the same was less accurate historically than any Robin Hood you have ever seen.

He was actually a petty criminal of Norman lineage who happened to get a romantic poem written about him and was used long after his death by Scottish nationalists and romantic Victorians in an effort to forge a Scottish identity able to withstand the cultural forces sweeping up from the south, which is no bad thing in itself.

But you have to be a bit gay and somewhat of a numpty to think the William Wallace of the film braveheart was anything more than a live action cartoon figure produced by a cartoon film company.

Say what you like about the Morris Dancers but they like a pint, and they are out of the closet, they would not wear a skirt n purse and pretend it was butch.

Geordies are a little confused.

Anyway Robbie- you are BRITISH like the rest of us😏

Back to football- i think boring or not- this england is playing the right way with what they have and ppl shoud give Roy Hodgeson credit where credit is due.

I think we will beat Italy on sunday- 2-1, Italy dont look all that good and are there for the taking.

Indeed! Perhaps in having watched so much of Rooney given that ManU gets so much air time in USA I have come to appreciate him better. As a pure striker he has few equals. That said, I doubt we will ever have strikers like Gerd Muller or Enrique Borja ever again. I know there are others like Kocsis. Pele was not really a pure striker, great as he was.

Actually i walked out of the cinema in disgust when i went to see Braveheart and to this
dayt i have not seen the film in its entirety making your assertion, quite ludicrous. Will
you please refrain from telling me what i know and what i do not know, i am perfectly
aware of the historical inaccuracies, after all, the actual place where Wallace was
betrayed is literally five minutes from my home and Stirling castle and the Wallace
monument are half an hours drive. After all we have had a public education system in
Scotland since the 1600's, which is probably the reason why we have produced so
many eminent and brilliant scholars, from Adam Smith to Alexander Bell to name but a
few. Dont you send your precious Royals up here to be educated at St Andrews?

No way, you have played against fairly mediocre teams where your 11 men behind the
ball routine has worked, Italy are a way more dangerous team than any you have
faced to this day, I predict Italy will win 2-0, they are excellent in defence and you will
be unable to score any jammy goals like you have done previously, entirely against the
run of play.
