oh dear, because my expression is genuine and unabashed ? I understand it really
might be the best you can do Kev, perhaps it might do you some good to say
something positive now and again yourself.

No,no,no, England were crap ,rubbish couldn't even pass . At international level that is suicide . Welbeck was a total light weight waste of space as was Young . Rooney needs to be dropped or Engalnd will end up building a team around an over rated premier star as we did with Beckham . Germany i am afraid to say would have whooped us quite easily and it probably was a good thing we whimped out to Italy .

Beckham was a great player Phil, you have to admit it my man. We have strange
conceptions about football in the UK, i am quite sure in Spain and elsewhere if you
cannot pass the ball , you are simply not entertained as a serious proposition. Aaron
Lennon, why the heck is he not given a game?

No Scots or Irish in team GB, another sham and proof of marginalisation, team EB
strikes again.

That's just it though. These stars perform well at club level but as soon as they play for their country, it all goes to pot. I'm not sure if it's off the pitch antics, dressing room attitude or what. All I can say is that all these players look very different when playing in the premiership.

PS Phil: I thought Welbeck had a grand world cup apart from against Italy. He held the ball up well, worked hard and kept possession for us. Not to forget his cheeky goal.

Then its a lack of professionalism, but i am not sure if I agree, here football is very
scrappy affair, the number of times the ball leaves the field of play because a player
cannot control it is a fair indication i think, look at the Spain v Portugal game, there
were substitutes waiting who could not get on the park because play was so interrupted
for so long simply because their players can control the ball.

My point was that you can suggest all the English players you want but they don't perform as well for their country as they do for their clubs. Call it lack of professionalism or whatever you want. I said that I wasn't sure what caused this phenomena, that wasn't my point. You suggested Aaron Lennon. What makes you think he will play well with an England shirt on?

because hes an awesome player who give any team that he plays for options of pace
and width, England have no one like him, its players like that which make a difference
and I believe, as espoused by the greatest English manager evah, Brian Clough whose
legacy lives on to this day in the styles of Martin O'Neill and Paul Lambert, that players
win you matches, tactics dont! Is it not the case that if you have a group of players
who can control and pass the ball, who are creative and good in possession that you
will win matches, regardless of tactics? Lets look at Spain, they are not a physical
team, they simply have players who know how to control the ball. Is it not the case?

Of course England would have given Germany a run for their money. However, not with the timid Hodgson plan of staying back. Italy showed everyone how to play these much vaunted teams. I really think it might have been quite different for England had Lampard and Cahill not been injured. Same as Spain shows how much they miss David Villa. Spain simply has no sub for this great player. With Lampard it is more calm and mental toughness than skill necessarily. He would have provided a great deal of calm and lots of freedom for Gerrard to weave his game onto the tapestry of the pitch.

Beckham sums up all thats wrong with English attitudes to international football ,he was never a great player ,good at the dead ball and crossing i will give you that .
What did England ever achieve with Beckham ? a few quarter finals . he was more about selling merchandice than any thing else . Lets compere him with a great player paul Gascoine , we managed two semi - finals losing both on penalties and in both cases ( not like italy ) we were unlucky . Gascoine would pick the ball up in midfield and take players on and beat them ,ever seen Beckham do that ? no . What about when he chipped colin Hendry and scored that goal against Scotland ( dont think you will like that much 😵😵 ) England take mediocre players to tournaments and make out they are super stars on the pitch and the gullable supporters fall for it every time ,thats why we dont win any thing ,things have got to change ,i was embarressed how Italy made England look secound rate all through the game couldn't string three passes together ,shocking !!!
😞😞😞

I agree with you regarding Rooney- how many more tournaments do we have to wait for him to come 'good'

He has not played a decent game for england for about 6 years now😞

it rally is shocking seeing the these players with an england shirt on- they just cannot reproduce the same level of skills

having watched lennon week in week out playing for Spurs- i dont think he wud have played any better for england then the others.

He has improved a lot since when he first come to the Lane- but still not the finished article.
