Not sure what to say. My initial reaction was that 3 years seems a little harsh. Then I got to thinking about security and integrity, and I think that perhaps that this is a fitting punishment. I certainly wouldn't like anyone divulging personal information about myself on a forum. It is very unlikely, but such behaviour could have serious repercussions.
My final point, it all depends on what context the comment was made in, and the intent (or not) behind divulging such data.

She wasn't permanently removed from the site, so it seems as though it could've been worse.
(I gather from other people's posts that Fat Lady is probably male, but I am not sure, so I use "xe" to be on the safe side. 🙂)

Also, if this was their first offence, perhaps a warning ban of a couple of months would have been more appropriate. Maybe I was a little harsh in my first post.
The post that was quoted here has been removedIts absolutely retarded. MerchantparkPro has given all the personal info in his profile needed to find his name with 1 quick google . If he really wanted to retain his anonymity, he wouldn't have provided this information.
In a removed thread (which happens to a lot of threads he takes part in), he boasted about how he wasn't hiding behind an anonymous name, like the rest of us.
Fat Lady's posts were always of good quality.

The post that was quoted here has been removedYeah, Fat Lady's male (He made a typo when trying to type "Fat Laddy" and russ wouldn't let him change it. 😛)
In any case - there should be a ban - people can't be allowed to post the name or personal information of others on a forum, but this is Laddy's first offense - he hasn't even done anything remotely deserving of a ban until this incident - and for a first offense even a month would have been more than sufficient. I just don't get the three year ban, it's absurd.
Originally posted by RagnorakI wasn't aware of this - this changes everything, maybe a ban wasn't even necessary at all. If somebody posts their own personal information first can somebody repeating it really be blamed?

He may as well have given his name, what he likes to call his lad, his address and social security number.
Besides, if memory serves me correctly, somebody else posted his name first, after getting drawn into a flame war with the guy.
