Re-read that, please.
We cannot drill any further than seven miles into the ground.
Cannot.
As in, it's impossible for us to go any further.
But we can, using sound waves, x-rays and accelerated particles sent 3,000+ miles into the ground, determine what lies below the surface.
That's not science.
That's science fiction.

for sound navigating and ranging in fluid environments.
As has been pointed out, drilling has been blocked at seven miles.
What indications were you thinking would present themselves using sonar at the point that drilling fails?
Originally posted by FreakyKBHAre you being deliberately obtuse? All sonar does is send sound waves through rock, it works just like underwater sonar.

So you were in the navy, maybe aboard a sub. Then you know about sonar. What makes you think sound will not propagate through rock. AND what makes you think you are enough of an expert on the subject to be making pronouncements like that?
Here is a link to seismology, take a look:

Seismic waves are the waves of energy caused by the sudden breaking of rock within the earth or an explosion. They are the energy that travels through the earth and is recorded on seismographs.
As you pointed out, sonar is sending sound out.
Seismology is the receiving, recording and analyzing of sound emitted from a source--- in this case, earthquakes.
Man, at his best, has enough power to drill seven miles into the surface... no where near the power generated by an earthquake.
Originally posted by FreakyKBHMan made waves are powerful enough to penetrate a thousand miles of rocks and send a signal back to the surface.

Besides, even if the signals from man were not strong enough, for one thing, equating a drilling operation with sound waves is like comparing fish to meteors. But even if man could not make sound waves strong enough to be detected by some very sensitive instruments, which they can, but forgetting man made sound waves in rocks, the earthquakes themselves makes very powerful waves that can be analyzed for returns from very deep layers. An earthquake does not just generate a sound that only goes up, if you had actually looked at the link I gave, it has several different propagation systems and they can penetrate deeply into rocks and send reflection signals back from hundreds of miles underground and also they have several types of waves that propagate more or less on the surface.
You do not have the qualifications to dis seismology or much of any other science since your head is firmly stuck up your ass, making your brain unable to actually study the real world, instead, stuck in a fantasy world that wasn't even of your own making, but you just fall over and play dead from the words of some OTHER assshole trying to make his fantasy flat Earth 'theory' sound true.
You really need to get out more.
