The other end of the cord was attached to the front of a tent. It had some meaning or significance but I don't believe it served any practical purpose. Anyway, at that time ...[text shortened]... ave likely said the earth is like a 'ball' resting on nothing, rather than hanging from nothing.
Isaiah 40:22 - It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to live in;

Where does it say anything about the world hanging from nothing in that particular verse?

I assumed AThousandYoung was referring the verse I mentioned, so it may or may not have been Isaiah who said "hanging from nothing".

Job 26:7 has a void beneath the world as well as hanging on nothing, but this might not be the same one I had in mind... although it does come closer than Isaiah 40:22.

Right. Relying on ancient text written by people who thought comets were devils coming down to Earth or some such.

Why do you bother with such claptrap?

Now that is funny. I can imagine some ancient 'scientist' calling those visions claptrap, because obviously the world must be resting on (or hanging from) some other (material) object.

I have the strangest feeling satellite data and space telescopes trumps ancient visions. I may be wrong but the probability is so low I won't lose any sleep over it.

And I won't lose any sleep over satellite data and space telescopes verifying ancient visions.

We were just speculating on who was first to recognize a global earth. I think it was the Greeks.

1. What is "basic math"?
Definition and example please.

Basic math would be something along the lines of, say, a formula.
For instance, here's a formula:
((m*m)*8)/12
Does that one look familiar, MathsGradBScHonsLondon?
That's the formula which--- for the life of you--- you couldn't produce when pressed for the rate of curvature of the earth.
In fact, you were never able to answer the question put to you.
Are you sure you went to class?

You're quite the genius, are you?
In my opinion, today’s scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality.

What say you, son?

That is nonsense.

8M^2/12 Well that pretty much depends on what you aim M to be doesn't it? You are good at obfuscation. Lets let M =1. Something, which you left out, is = 2/3
So M=2 32/12 = 2 2/3

M=3 Something = 6

Ok, so I am totally astounded. Now what?

BTW, you still haven't said exactly what NASA lied about and why you don't want to drag the Russians, the Chinese, the Brits, the Indians and all those other space launch countries. Tell me, are they in on the big secret also?
