Completely agree. Snakes don't have arms/legs, somehow they seem less terrifying to me.

Sorry to hear of a pet dying, even a pet snake.

Spiders and snakes for pets? No wonder you are so creepy. 🙂

Held her with gloves on at first to kind of test the waters. She's really very skittish. Here's what she looks like: http://tinyurl.com/292o49

I have a picture of me holding the Octavia. I'll post it here if I can find it.
She looks like a Chilean Rose? Apparently they can become much more docile if allowed to mate, or so I was told when I investigated buying one a few years ago. I always wanted a tarantula since Syrna tied me up and let one crawl up my bare che... I've said too much

Same here. I'd love to get a snake, it could eat all the spiders, too.

Yep, that's what she is...a Chilean Rose. My first one was a Pink Toe. All black with pink feet.

Yuck!

OMG that so gives me the creeps! 😞

It has black on the tips of it's feet and thingies around it's mouth (I guess they aren't pincers after all). And it's body is large like that, but it is completely white, kind of milky color.

I could FedEx it to you if you like, it appears to be alive still, though not happy about being in the jar.

It sounds to me like it maybe the Mexican Grape Spider. They lay their eggs inside the grapes, then they hatch 12 hours after being eaten. I hope you didn't eat the grapes. 😕

The things around it's mouth are called pedipalps. They're basically fangs which inject poison.

The green on the spider in the picture is from the leaf's reflection I think. It's white. Does your spider have those brown stripes on the sides of it's abdomen?

Is that the one where the eggs hatch inside you and come out your peehole?

Seriously, I tried doing a search for Mexican Grape Spider. Nothing. I think you just made it up.

Pedipalps aren't fangs dude :0) they aid feeding and sperm transfer in males, basically a modified leg.
