There's a hip-hop thing about waving your hands in the air like you just don't care. Edit - apologies it's "wave your hands in the air, party like you just don't care"

It's funnier when it doesn't need explaining (or editing).
See, that's what I was looking for - a reference to something else I didn't know (the hip-hop thing, I did know about the white flag). Thanks. You are right that it's not very funny if it needs explaining, but at least I can see now that it makes some sort of sense.

Okay... So that's the surrender part. But what's with the flag-waving (that doesn't seem like a stereotypical French thing, sounds more American or Norwegian), and what does all this have to do with hip-hop?
This should really be in the "How to ruin a joke in 2 easy steps" thread.

You can just call me G for short, if you want my son.

Speaking of quality French films, I watched Delicatessen the other night. Superb movie.

Listening to Soukous Radio, so this is of African origin, but sounds French:

Deux Vultures, a track called Kinyawnyau

Sounds like they've sampled some KLF & other sounds and are rapping over it. Quite good.

Edit: the video is, erm, interesting http://uk.
