If it makes you feel any better, Marky, prior to 1807, a stalemate was considered a win by the person forcing it. Then they changed the rules to confuse you. Just you.

It absolutely amazes me how many times this thread shows up. Usually in the chess forum or the help forum, but over and over we read the same question.

I think XNZ use to sit over in the help fourm just hoping someone would post this query so that he could rain abuse on the questioner.

Therefore: ... chess was invented by that tiny bit of people who seem to be NOT stupid and form the exception that confirms the rule (Dutch saying, and therefore stupid lol). The game itself is brilliant and it's those, as P put it very neatly, who waste the game by stupidity who are stupid.

I think stalemate is a very good way to show your stupidity, or to show that you can combine moves until your opponent looks rediculous! 😀
