We have our rainy seasons here.

Just because the sun isn't giving you a tan, does not mean its rays aren't shining.

I'm pretty sure oil companies are doing whatever they can to make sure that doesn't happen. It would almost ruin them.
They're doomed no matter what. There are still many ways they can remain in play.

It will only get worse. Same with the manufacturers. Lots are filled with big trucks and SUV's and they line people's yards here in NY with for sale signs. This is a downward spiral from which people and corporations have to accept.

Hmmmmm.... I feel that's debatable... However, I myself am too ignorant about the topic to argue. 🙄

For years diesel was cheaper than gas. It is a cruder, less refined product., at least to my understanding. The oil companies raised the price to simply bend the truckers over the oil barrel.

There is a lot of talk about alternative energy. I think they won't do much about it until the greedy oil companies sell every last drop of oil. Then they will monopolize the alternatives just as they did the petroleum .
I would love to hear a clear and cogent argument as to how the 'evil oil companies' are the cause of current gas and diesel prices. Can you supply one?

We are paying around $5.85 USD a gallon in Australia, around $1.52AUD per litre.
Its probably an 80 percent increase in the last 3 years.
I'm lucky here, i live beside where i work, but some of my mates have a commute of eighty kilometres. The fuel bill alone is hitting them hard in the hip pocket.
I read in a post by FMF the other day, that in Indonesia the gas price rose by a full third overnight and there was protests and street marches, but the price rose to 6000 rupiah, or around .642c USD!
Makes me wonder how we here in Australia get ripped off so much in comparison to our neighbours.

What are the prices like from other parts of the world? im curious.

Shell had the biggest income of any company in the US for 2007.

Its the gas companies that are making the money, not the Arabs.

Thailand is 34 baht a litre (approx 52 uk pence or 1 $US)....but mayhem is here also.....it's gone up nearly 25% in the last 3 months (Jan was 27 baht/ltr). Bus prices have risen, as they are not making profit, and the moped riders are now half walking! 🙁
