It was a lot of fun! But I bet it ain't around no more.
Hmm... I'm still a kid. Maybe "Smess" will be my next challenge after eating some fried liver a la traxler. Nite...

Scrabble

Although who ever's place your in usually gets an advantage because of the house dictionary. 🙂

Of course there is always the Scrabble dictionary, which is what you should use, but we weren't brought up on the right side of the tracks and the Scrabble dictionary wasn't always an option.

Bridge. The skill, tactics and strategy of chess but with the added element of playing with a partner (definitely NOT your wife!) against two other players working together.

Oops - just remembered the thread is Good strategy BOARD games. What a silly Billy.

(Still, bridge is an excellent game)

Monopoly is a complete dud. Careers was better. Cluedo was better. Risk was better. Movie Maker was better. Formula 1 was better. Escape From Colditz was better. Game Of Nations was better. Diplomacy was better. Monopoly may have spawned a great deal of creativity and productivity in terms of other board games, bit in and of itself it was, is and always will be a very underwhelming and relatively undynamic game mechanism that has paled utterly in the face of its successors.

Carcasonne is quite an engaging game. No dice involved but you do have to pick various carboard tiles up, so some luck involved. However, as with most strategy games, it's all about what you do with them.
