Maybe he does not want some time away from his wife, and therefore he only plays once a week...?

Maybe not. I lived with a golfer for many years without having the slightest interest in golf. It was only later that I got hooked on the game itself, to watch, not to play. It is fascinating, as is chess.

WOW....I can't see how you can possibly compare chess to golf?

Chess you use your brain and sit on your butt.

Golf you are using your body & mind, getting lots of exercise.

Also a good way to get away from the wife for a spell. 😉

I feel these games have something in common, I just can't explain what - patience I guess, not least with those who watch them. 🙂

You are quite entitled to you opinion. I am entitled to not agreeing with your opinion. 😉
