Edit:you guys pretend to be soccer experts but you're not even able to spell correctly the name of players you're talking about.
marodonna doesn't deserve to have his name spoken, let alone spelled right.

Beckenbauer was clearly one of the greatest players of his time but was a defender and didn't scored often.

........and no,no one scored "thousand" goals in top class games.

Only Pelè and (maybe) Romario hit the thousand goals, but surely not in top class games, unle ...[text shortened]...
If he came to a club Europe be sure that he would have scored half of the goals he did.
You are contradicting yourself.

Yeah, sure, now go back reading tabloids about Beckham and leave the discussion to people who know something about soccer.

People who don't appreciate Maradona as a soccer player should stick to darts and snooker discussions.

The second goal God scored in that match is one of the best ever.
People use that one handball as an excuse to get at him. He was at least the second best player ever, and anybody who doubts it lacks basic knowledge on the subject.

Francesco Totti at his best, top ten!

It has nothing to do with basic knowledge, it's all a matter of opinion.

My opinion is that he was a cheating git who didn't need to cheat so much.
Pele and Best, and Cruyf too were better.

You say he's great blah blah because of the goals etc and then say it's not about goals [Beckenbauer]

What was Georges middle name? The! George 'The' Best. Now has an airport named after him in Belfast. I hate Maradonna, but with Pele they come in 2 & 3. Without the Hand of God he would not have scored that 2nd goal by the way. Rewatch the match. Terryt fenwick and co were still arguing with the ref. He scored a fair goal against Belgium thoughin the semis and was a great player. I just hate him with a passion.

Maradonna was one the best ever. No doubt about it. Only his warming up was a joy to watch. And all you who talk about Beckham.....never saw such an extreme overrated player like him. He can bend a ball like thousand others. Very average. Just like all the other english players really. Only Best and Keegan can get near in their shadow
Bergkamp
Maradonna
Cruyff
Ronaldinho
Pele
Socrates
Zidane
Beckenbauer
Messi
Van Basten

A few years ago he choose for Arsenal. At his age he thought he was too old to serve at two fronts. Now he played his last game, it started itching to do one more time the national team. He made that public after May 9th. Too late to get drafted.
