So maybe he was the most talented, but that don't make him the greatest. Using a snooker analogy (for those of you who know anything about it), would you not say Ronnie O sullivan, despite being supposedly the most talented, is nowhere near the greatest?

Personally, I reckon Ronaldhino is the most talented player alive playing now, far more than hand of God maradonna ever was; but Pele was the better footballer by far also. Maradonna scored one or two good goals and that's it. Either way if you base it on brilliant goals George Best beats the lot. And if you include all positions, Gordon Banks was the best EVER footballer.

If ever there was a time to say that someone single-handedly won the World Cup, then Maradona in '86 would be that time. That Argentinian side was very average, except for one player of course, that goal symbolises perfectly how Argentina won that tournament. He did it with Napoli too, another 'one-man team' and if it wasn't for drugs he could have accomplished more. Greatest ever player? I think so, it depends how you define it though I suppose. For an overall carrer and accomplishments the you could argue the case for other players but, at his peak, no-one could touch Maradona for out and out skill and the ability to make an impact in a game.

The problem with Pele seems to be that it is now all about the money. He just visited Coventry to sign copies of his new book. The book (which you had to buy) was the only thing he would sign, nothing else.

And modern players play simply for the love of the game!! 😛

In Pele's day wages were a fraction of what they are today who can blame him for trying to earn a crust.

Here's my top 10.

1. Pele
2. Stanley Mathews
3. Booby Moore
4. Ronaldinho
5. George Best
6. Johan Cruyff
7. Franz Beckenbauer
8. Gordon Banks
9. Eusabio
10.Tierry Henry
