I've been working a couple "They Might Be Giants" songs, and Beatles... and some others.

Anyone have a link to a good song that isn't too complex for me to mess about with? The chords in Across The Universe by Beatles is a bit too complex, and TMBG is driving my wife nuts.

So, please let me know of a good song with lots of standard chords like

G
E
Em
C
A
Am
D
F
Bm
etc. Not much for the funky chords that take all 4 or more of my fingers.

Thanx in advance.

Am old, so this song shows my age. Try "China Grove" by the Doobie Brothers. Very easy to play!

http://www.911tabs.com/link/?294850

Also easy-to-play is Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon."

Alternatively, if you don't want to use too many fingers, looked up "dropped D" guitar tuning. With that, you can play I-IV-V blues progressions basically with full bar-chords. Add some distortion & a few fingering mistakes won't matter. Dropped-D also goodfor adding a bit of slide work.

I drive my wife nuts, too, but mainly because I somehow manage to put obscene lyrics to many songs. When I was in bands, never listened to the lead singer. Therefore, never learned all the words!

yeah, I swear a lot also... Thanx for the tips. Drop D is also easier to sing to, some say since you don't need to try and hit high notes.

Someone should put the tab up for "Eruption" by Van Halen as well.

Learn the more complex ones. It is not that hard to learn a lot of guitar chords, behind most of them is lot of logic, and the more chords that you learn, the easier will be to you to learn new ones. There exists certain patterns and analogies between chords. And when you learn them, you will be the coolest man around 😛

C, G, F, a, e that you menition, does not give plenty of playing options. . It is very easy to find a good book on the theme of guitar chords, and to learn them pretty fast if you have some talent 🙂
