I've never been there. Hopefully I'm going to Bologna this summer. Is is far from there?
Venice is worth a trip too.

We had the same problem. I liked the gondol sailing and the very small streets.

I was there in the late summer, and I cannot remember anything about the smell. I guess it depends on the wind and the currents.

You sat alone in a pub all day instead of shopping? I bet you went up a notch in most guys book. 😉

LA, NY, DC, London, Paris and Rome...
El Lay will be warm, dry and smoggy, with a chance of pretension. Don't stay downtown .. get down to the beach.
NY and DC could be cold and wet. Both will be dangerous, dirty and full of attitude.
London .. rain and fog .. eat before you go and place a large stick up your butt.
Paris .. in the springtime? Wet, cold. Great, but for the French.
Rome .. wet and cold but at least you'll be able to find a good meal.

Yes. When I went there in early summer, it smelled bad and I think it had something to do with the water. And then the birds really get on your nerves 🙁.

Just the name Florence brings back a lot of memories 🙂. I'm going to agree with you on this one. Amazingly beautiful city...
