After two years of running a print company, I finally had enough 2 months ago I quit. It was that or kill every living thing in my office.
Since then, I've been freelancing for myself and applying with agencies who specialize in overseas opportunities. I've been wanting to travel, Im young, no children, no relationships to keep me in one place.
I figure, I can work overseas for a few years, do the tour thing then come back and start up my own company with whatever I manage to put away for capital.
Got all my papers in order already too, so as soon as it happens Im good to go. Only thing is, I'm enjoying working for myself. No stress because all the work is done and done well, I keep my appointments and deadlines so theres no slack there and I get to tell non-paying clients what I think of them, as bluntly as I like. I might have some trouble re-adjusting to a, office environment.

I had a job I hated. I mean, HATED. I would wake up everyday and moan to myself that I was about to go back into work. I dreaded every Monday that came and I always felt depressed, run down, hopeless.

Then I got out. I quit and ran off into the proverbial sunset and never looked back. It was the best decision I have ever made, and I regret nothing.

I was able to find a better job that is closer to home and pays me 25% more money than I had before.

If you really hate your job, and if the place is messing up your chi and bringing you down and if it feels like Hades....then leave. There are always options.

Good luck to you.

I love my job, best job I ever had, and of course, the pay sucks! Really sucks.

The less people you have to work with, the better is my opinion.

The bigger the place, the worst it seems.

😕

i wash dishes in a (very) busy, overpriced restaurant for £4.50 an hour. the work sucks, the staff are lazy and the customers complain to me about being overcharged. i wash dishes! i look like i wash dishes! i am holding a big think that is full of cutlery! i don't care about you being charged twice for a pot of tea, or you got a small coffee but were charged for a large. all i care about is getting the lazy arses in the kitchen to stop sitting on the dishwasher trays and actually do somthing! gah!

9 hours a day, 4 days a week. next year i think i'll start looking for a job earlier than june...

I love my job. It was the first job I got after finishing my studies, and I am still very happy with it. I work as a music therapist in kindergarten. Very rewarding.

What kind of job do you have?

Sounds great, but what exactly is a music therapist?

It's difficult to describe in a few sentences, and I still haven't translated the brochure I have written for the kindergartens to English, but here's some information about the kind of music therapy I do: http://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/about/
I work with children with special needs.

Good for you Noodles, as a father of 2 young kids, im sure you find your work really rewarding. Theres nothing like seeing a kid develop new skills and get a good feeling out of it.
