Thanks. If I ever have children they're going to be surrounded by a world of positivity.
The world is full of negatives. You do your best - in fact, some negative is good for a child, it helps them learn and grow emotionally. It's part of the human condition.
Originally posted by SunburntSome negative IS good, the world IS full of them... even more reason why a child shouldn't be subjected with them by its parents. You can't do this, you can't do that, breeding confidence isn't as bad thing, in fact I'd say it's a good thing. It's hard to compare our mindsets on this, America is a lot more positive place than here.

Your children are human beings who grow and mature to realize that YOU, the parent, are a human being with flaws. Do they affect your kids? HELL yeah, but that's what family love is - imperfect but acceptable.

All children are willful to a fault and must be taught the meaning of the little word 'no'. Parents are ineffective and/or negligent in their responsibilities to the extent that their offspring fail to recognize authority and lack teachability. Such children are both insecure and unhappy.

Personal negativity is the issue i have, parents telling their kids they can't do something when actually they probably could. If a child doesn't get self-confidence from their parents where is it going to come from?
