He didn't address Christians, he was joking around with someone who was likely to share his disbeliefs. You said yourself that you would be more offended if someone says "Your religion is crap" (or however exactly it went) than if someone states his opinion about that religion without addressing you personally. So I am confused as to why adramforall's post offended you so much. If someone jokingly asked: "What are agnostics?", and someone else replied: "They are mental couch potatoes", I wouldn't be offended in the least. If I would feel personally insulted whenever someone says something which goes against my own beliefs, I would feel insulted all the time. Doesn't sound much fun.
I agree. But in this case, I feel justified in my calling him a troll.

And how much has adamforall posted here since this started? I wager he's sitting back laughing his ass off. Very troll-like, indeed.
I am sorry, I have a life outwith here and needed a dump.

Let's run over that one again.
Well I'm in the third category, the one that rejects the notion of god, salvation etc. Now, since you accept that opinion and belief are the same, and that we've established that anything a person expresses is xyr opinion, do you realise that your opinion is as revolting and damaging to me as adamforall's was to you? And that adding IMO to it is neither here nor there?
Your religion is not being insulted by my belief in God, because you do not have a religion.
In fact, you cannot know how insulted I am, nor can you have any empathy at all for my feelings (in this matter, at least), since you cannot relate, because you do not have a religion. Not having a religion is not a religion. In your case, just what do I call a fictional document? Bible? No. Koran? No. Collected writings of T.S. Eliot? No. You can *not* relate. And my opinion that there is a God is revolting and damaging to you? I doubt it. Why do you care what I think? I'm just another nobody that you don't have to care about, because you don't see any repercussions after death for not caring about anyone but yourself. You're free to treat anyone in any manner you see fit, subject to the rules of your society. Is it any wonder so much anguish and pain exists today?
And, Mr. Literalist, the entire "In my opinion" thing was just a label I put on it. I was just urging him to make it clear that it's his opinion. He could simply start the sentence "I believe" instead. Or any other combination of words expressing the idea. I see plenty of people do it here all the time. I do it myself, since I know the proclivity of RHP'ers to jump on anything a person says, just to get a laugh. You won't hear me saying here "The Holy Bible is the literal Word of God and you blaspheme God!", but I *might* say "I believe the Holy Bible was written by men at the direction or direct influence of God." Which is more inflammatory? Which phrase might a troll use?
I'm done beating the deceased equine. Why would you give a rat's ass what I think? You probably don't, so there's not much left to say.

You don't tell us who you are directing your post at Suzianne? If it is adramforall then I must point out that he only made a reply to a post that sevenstar created. In that case your definition of "troll" doesn't apply does it.
I personally prefer these discussions about religion take place in another thread so I don't have to look at them, but si od. But that doesn't mean I have to have the same belief. That I share their delusions.
Anyway, Arrakis, let me point out - just to get the facts straight - that my 'Read The Bible' thread was not meant as an invitation or an encouragement, at least in my opinion, to actually read that book.
As I feel we all enjoy a tad of laughter from time to time, the title of the thread was merely a teaser to have people look at this site: http://thrillingwonder.blogspot.com/2007/01/church-signs-bulletin-bloopers.html
"Read the bible - it will scare the hell out of you", reads one sign posted on that page. I found that rather amusing, much as I also like "Staying in bed, shouting oh God !, does not constitute going to church."
But then, that's just my opinion.
Ne tirez pas sur le pianiste.

Criticising and mocking his beliefs by arrogantly assuming yours are better makes you a complete hypocrite considering what this whole argument started with.
