...For remembering faces.

A couple of years ago i went to Spain with a friend to stay at his house out there. He bought the house next door to his mum. When we arrived she showed me some photo's of the building work being done (it had completed about 2 years earlier). I flicked through the photo's, not paying too much attention to them as they were terrible but i wanted to be polite and she was a nice lady. Anyway, 10 days later we were in the supermarket, we'd just finished shopping and were sitting down in a busy part of the shop to have a cup of tea. I'm talking to my friends mum and, looking over her shoulder i recognise her builder! I saw one photo of him 10 days earlier and i recognised him! She called him over and we had tea together and wondered at how strange it was that i'd recognised someone i'd never met!

Now, yesterday i was running an errand in London, i had to collect some locks from a shop in Knightsbridge. I was walking down the street and passed a guy selling the Big issue. I instantly recognised him as a guy i had met once before. Eleven years ago i had stopped him in the stairwell of an apartment block to ask him which flat belonged to a guy called Kevin (i'd just seen him leave the flat which i thought was correct so i thought i'd ask him instead of knocking). After i picked the locks up i stopped and said hello to this guy and sure enough, he was from that area and knew the guy!!

How weird is that!!

I met this guy for a few seconds over a decade ago and i recognised him like it was yesterday!

These are not the only times this has happened to me, but they are the most extreme examples of this talent i obviously have. My question to you all is how should i make best use of this? People say you should always 'play to your strengths', can anyone think of a pursuit that would utilise this skill? Everyone i've spoken to about this so far instantly says 'become a police officer' but that's out of the question....

Do you good memory just to faces? Cause if you a good memory for other things too there a lot of things you can do. But don't rely just on your memory, try have some intuition too. Yes, intuition is partly born with you - the big part of it, if you ask me- but it also can be trained. If you have a good memory and intuition you could try the so called hard sciences.

I do have strong intuition actually. When i was 23 i was living at home with my parents. My mother went to visit a friend in Paris for the weekend. My Dad was out quite a lot during this weekend. It occurred to me that he could be having an affair. I'd never thought this before, but i remember clearly having this thought. I actually examined my feelings about this eventuality and in a way prepared myself. 1 year later my parents separated. It turns out that my Dad had been invited over for dinner by this lady THAT VERY WEEKEND! When my parents told me what was happening i wasn't shocked at all, i already knew. It was bizarre to say the least...

EDIT: What are the 'hard sciences' ??

math, physics, chemistry (blargh)! As for math and physics I call'em the fun sciences! I wasn't talking about that intuition but with that one why not try law enforcement! Some kind of it.
I was talking about the type of intuition scientists normally refer to... And that's kinda hard to explain what it is 😕 😳... But if you know what I'm talking about you can understand me...

If my example is not the intuition you were refering to, then what sort of intuition are you refering to instead? 😕

Paul Erdos: "Why are numbers beautiful? It's like asking why is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony beautiful. If you don't see why, someone can't tell you. I know numbers are beautiful. If they aren't beautiful, nothing is." This is more or less the same problem in explaining what intuition is...

I think i get what you are getting at. It is difficult to give an answer to whether i have this because 'it' is so undefinable. I'll go with yes anyway 😏😛

Sometimes when I'm solving a problem I know where to go but I don't know how I know it. It's like I know the solution but I'm not seeing all the steps that leads to it... It's real hard to explain...😕 All try to find some quotes on the internet about it...
