... to be a witness in court.

Not for anything exciting. In December some drunk driver almost hit a cop car, then slammed his car into the trees across from my house. I heard the crash and looked outside in time to see the guy run away into the woods before the cops arrived. Apparently he is claiming he wasn't driving the car.

Anyway, I'm surprised they need me, because it was dark and I cannot identify the guy. I can only state that I saw *someone* run away into the woods.

I've never been to court before - do you think it will be interesting?

sounds like the story of the guy who was fooled into coming forward to collect his lottery win, and the police were waiting for him. they go easier on you if you confess. watch out for the moment when they grab you and slip the handcuffs on when youre not expecting it.

not likely. obviously they can find me since they knocked on my door to give me the official papers.

The district court is right across the street from where I work so it won't even be inconvenient. I wonder if the defendant is going to try to kill be in the next month before the court date.
