Some people say Pink Floyd is the greatest; others Black Sabbath; still others Green Day. Well, too bad. Jimi Hendrix is freaking AWESOME!!! Those of you with iTunes, buy 'Fire', 'All Along the Watchtower', and 'Little Wing' by Jimi Hendrix. He is the best!!!
Pink Floyd...Black Sabbath...Jimi Hendrix...Green Day (???)

jimi is a legend. but hey-even he liked cream 🙂 (stopped a minuite into "hey joe" to do a tribute to them. as you do.)
he pretty much started rock guitar, and his stuff has barely aged! plus, he liked to set his guitar on fire 🙂 forget van halen, satch, slash or mr knopfler, jimi is the stuff legends are made of!
eric clapton was leaving a jimi hendrix concert when his contemporary jeff beck was entering. "jeff, we're in trouble" were his words. that's a rather impressive complement, if you ask me...

Even ignoring the blues axmen that proceeded the 60's rock and roll stars, which you really can't, you still had guys like Duane Eddy and Link Wray before him. Also The Ventures and hell, Beck, Clapton and Page were all in The Yardbirds and all came before Hendrix.

however, we can argue about the founding fathers of rock guitar for a long, long time. however, how many 15 year old guitarists have heard of link wray? but every single last one of them have heard of jimi hendrix. plus, link wray didn't set his guitar on fire...
There's a Red House over yonder
That's where my baby stays
There's a Red House over yonder, baby
That's where my baby stays
Well, I ain't been home to see my baby,
in ninety nine and one half days.
'Bout time I see her,
Wait a minute something's wrong here
The key won't unlock the door.
Wait a minute something's wrong baby,
Lord, have mercy, this key won't unlock this door,
something's goin' on here.
I have a bad bad feeling
that my baby don't live here no more.
That's all right, I still got my guitar
Look out now . . .
I might as well go on back down
go back 'cross yonder over the hill
I might as well go back over yonder
way back over yonder 'cross the hill,
(That's where I came from.)
'Cause if my baby don't love me no more,
I know her sister will!
