I am both a paying subscriber and a volunteer forum moderator, with no links to any other moderator.

Attacking the forum moderation system in a public thread in the General forum is tilting at windmills. It is ultimately unproductive, pointless, and encourages the casual forum visitor to leave and never return. The forums are the only real losers in this process; as a quick review of forum threads will show there is not much stuff there to attract new people to join in.

If you enjoy the RHP public forums, encourage others to participate. If you have a difficulty with the process, discuss it privately with the people who make the ultimate decisions on the site.

Those of you who live in the real world will recognise this concept:

If you're happy, tell others. If you're unhappy, tell the people who can make a difference, by sending feedback.

IS it okay for me to PM you telling you how bad a moderator you are?

OK, although a bit pointless, I'd just put you on my ignore list. If you think I'm doing a bad job, tell Russ.

You'd put me on your ignore list for expressing an opinion? That seems a bit harsh, I haven't even written the PM yet. I guess that's your style, you're moderating things before they've even been created. My intention was not to be antagonistic or rude, merely to point out your flaws, to help you become a better mod, but it is clear that you're unreachable, presupposing the actions of posters instead of acting upon them.

Sorry if I misinterpreted this, it sounded pretty aggressive to me. If you want to PM me, by all means do so. If I received an offensive rant I'd do the ignore thing, otherwise I'd do my best to explain my actions, as I do with everyone who PMs me. I have publicly invited people who question any moderation decision to PM me, and do not actually have anyone on my ignore list at present. Now I've clarified my statement, would you care to update yours?

That's surprising. If someone would think I am doing a bad job, I'd much prefer them telling me first instead of running to my boss right away. That would give me an opportunity to explain why I am doing things the way I do, adjust my behaviour or clear up any misunderstandings. In most cases it would probably be possible to solve the problem that way, and everybody would be better off.

Edit: Oh, I am late again. Seems it wasn't meant the way it came over.

{sigh} I never was any good at explaining myself, used to cop it from teachers a lot.

I've just added a line to my profile text, would you guys care to check it for me?

I understand it to mean that there's a pink elephant in front of your door, am I reading this correctly?

Ah, now that you say it, that makes a lot more sense. Sorry, English is not my first language.

Yes, always*.

"Why is that?"
So that you can dispute their actions which are often wrong or misguided. [or in some cases, fraudulent]

*edit: well they do in the UK - the land of the free. 😏

Of course I do - so I can go round and tell all his friends he's an animal and not to let their kids talk to his kids. Isn't that what everyone does?

Oh, I suppose that's why they won't give me the guy's name .... 😳
