Arrakis maintains that he made no "insane threats" leading up to being banned from the site. He felt he was being unfairly treated by the forum mods and decided to register a for ...[text shortened]... is side of the story, especially regarding the "insane threats" he's alleged to have made.
You believe the story of a man who thinks that having homophobic attacks on other users modded on an internet chess site is being "treated unfairly"?

See the bump above.

Also, "I told you that I would not use my position as a writer to damage your website... but you are pushing me too far." sounds to me like an insane threat. How much time would you spend dealing with a customer like this before deciding enough is enough?

I am constrained from using direct quotes from Arrakis' last post (which was modded) but it did contain direct threats that would be reasonably labeled insane by people who read them.

If you (Ichibanov) require confirmation of these details, PM me.

My understanding is that there were other events besides the original modding which prompted his final exchanges with Russ. These had to do with PMs he received from a member of the mod team and not the original forum ban. As for the original ban, once I found out the circumstances concerning the homophobic slur, a 1 day ban didn't seem unfair to me and I told Arrakis as much.

As for your quote...isn't that from a previous incident? I'm not here to rehash everything Arrakis has ever said. He and I still disagree on many subjects, but I still found him to be an excellent clan leader who did a lot of work making Dune a great place to hang out. Since no one from the site side is coming forward to clarify the circumstances of his ban, I felt compelled to at least give Arrakis' side of the story. I didn't figure it'd be well received, but it's only fair.

Well, I think they're more angry than insane, but yes...those certainly look to be threats. Obviously, I didn't dig enough before posting what had been related to me by Arrakis.

What can I say...I just wanted to put Arrakis' side of the story out there. Obviously, he painted a different picture for me in his emails than what you posted above. But after reading that text, I would have to agree that the tone of his last request was definitely threatening.

He felt he was being unfairly treated by the forum mods and decided to register a formal complaint with Russ via mail rather than here on the site. To that end he requested a mailing address to which he could send said complaint. Immediately following this request, in which he maintains no legal threats were made, Arrakis was banned from the site.
Regardless of what he says, he must have pissed admin off more than enough, to justify being banned from site.
