Hi all,
My name is Daniel, im 47 yrs old, live in Richmond, Va. and have had a love/hate relationship with chess most of my life.
I first learned how to play in the early 70's when Fischer was winning the world championship. Actually all I really did was learn how the pieces moved, I didnt really learn any openings or strategy. I would beat my sister and my Dad, but against stronger opponents I would routinely get crushed. I would get frustrated, quit the game to pick it up every now and then in the following years.
In college I played a little backgammon but even then didnt play much until I got a computer. I became a fairly good player but have become increasingly frustrated with the amount of luck involved. So here I am again trying my hand at chess one more time.
I've tried several of the CC sites out there and this one seems to be one of, if not the best. I like the pace of CC as opposed to OTB for now because I find myself making fewer mistakes when not under the time constraints of live play.
My goals are simple: to continue to improve and to get to the point where I'm actually winning more games than I lose. Right now, I'm playing 2 games and that seems to be my limit that I'm comfortable with for the time being. I do look forward to getting to know everyone in weeks and months to come and contribute to the forums from time to time.
While I have your attention, let me ask a question. I have the Chessmaster 10 program, Chess for Dummies book and Jeremy Silmans "The complete book of chess strategy". What would be a good follow up? Any reccomendations? Something on stragegy or general principles or something more specific? Thanks in advance for your help.

For chess questions your best bet would be to look in the Only Chess forum; they talk about that stuff all the time.
