Those kindly people at the DVLA have kindly sent me a little money that I'd completely forgotten about.

My plan is to drive down and watch some football on the way (Indian Gymkhana v Sutton Common Rovers). I've not missed a Saturday since the opening day of the season, courtesy of poor scheduling by the Conference who thought it would be a good idea to put it on the same day as a boating festival.

I expect to be arriving at the pub sometime after 6pm and look forward to meeting a few familiar and a few not so familiar faces down there. Sorry I can't join in the drinking this time.

Incidentally, who is flying in this time?

Yeah, but a pub with the word "rat" in it and and entrance fee... doesn't sound like the sort of joint I'd hang around in.

But hey... what's 5 quid more or less. Sure. The Water rat.

So, that's 18:30 at the Water-rat, which is somewhere near the hostel I'm supposed to be staying at. Sounds like at least 50% of a plan!

Would a pay in place even be open at 18:30 ?

I have no idea about the area, so i can't be part of the place finding process, but a pay in place so early sounds like we'll be stuck there for the night....and a guy got to eat.

What? Did you not read my post?

The Water Rats is a bad idea, it will be crammed on a Friday and it costs to get in. Plus the bands are so bloody loud we'll be shouting 'WHAT?' all night and the beer's really overpriced. There's got to be a better pub.

😞 I also get pints of water when i drink sometimes.

My name's Huck, and i'm an intelligent drinker. It started innocently enough, a friend said.."Do you want a packet of crisps with that ? "

Is there a pub near Kings cross station we could all start off in ? I will have a good feed before we meet, so as not to spoil your flow, i promise.

We just need somewhere to gather, we can move on as the night takes us, right ?

Lausey said he's coming, and Marinka. Somewhere to gather is a good idea, i think.

p.s....is that a winebar ?

Sounds like a plan....I can even find gray's inn road on the map. We'll see what the others say, but it sounds good to me.

It's actually Harrison's bar.

It's in Harrison street, just off the Gray's inn road.
