I, for one, gave up any inclination to know EXACTLY why everything happens around the end of the second season. I prefer the show to be more abstract and metaphorical than to have some literal answer to tidy everything up with a n ...[text shortened]... e lot.

It reminds me of the movie Magnolia, which I love and can watch a hundred times over.
Not me, the writers. It's obvious to me that they stopped having any idea where the story is going after series one.

I tried for 4-5 episodes, I really tried, but it just has nothing. it's the Mtv of tv-series. looks pretty but no content.

Bull. You watched half of one, at the most.

You succumbed to popular opinion is all. I, for one, find the overall plot to be relatively simple and I love the direction the story is taking the fans.

I trusted you better than that, Liam. 😠

I must admit I like it a lot, although I don't watch it regularly on tv, i just download the episodes from time to time to catch up.

after the first two episodes I still had my hopes, because series often take off slowly. but after that it soon became clear there wasn't going to be anything.

after that, I've checked out some random episodes every now and then, in the vague hope of something happening, but there just never is anything. it's a shiny void of boredom with pretty people.

and you know, I do watch the most ridiculous crap on tv.

Oh come on, can't you see the writers sitting down around a table:

Bob: I'm all out of ideas.
Pete: Me too, I wish we'd actually planned this out before we signed up for a second and third series.
Steve: I need the money, so we better come up with something. How about we just keep it going by adding in the most ridiculous plot enhancement we can think of. It really doesn't matter if we ever resolve it or not.
Bob: You're right, the powers that be won't care because it's in keeping with the mystery of their marketting campaign.
Pete: You may be on to something, hmm, so what's next?
Steve: How about Charlie is destined to die for some unknown reason but keeps avoiding death?
Pete: Yeah, and Desmond is the guy to save him.
Bob: Because he's been shown all this in a vision.
Steve: But you can't change it so eventually Charlie will die and that will buy us time.
Pete: The bosses love the English cliche with those red telephone boxes, lets chuck that in.
Steve: And a cockney or two.
Bob: I can see another three years of this salary...

That one was good, also. So was the Claire episode. But last night's was my favourite BY FAR. Maybe even my favourite for the whole series. Locke is an incredibly complex character that has only now become to come together. With each flashback that is revealed and we are shown who Locke really is -- an extremely depressed and tortured soul -- it makes h ...[text shortened]... teresting.

His interactions with Ben in last night's episode were totally enthralling, IMO.
I agree, Locke is a great character and the most interesting on the show. As far as acting is concerned, the guy who plays Ben is friggin' brilliant. Dark, creepy, evil, manipulative...just a brilliant job.
