I expect most people will be too young (or too foreign) to have heard of this 60s English band, but I saw them playing tonight and they were pretty good, I have to say.

Are there any others of you who had heard of them before?
Sure, i still have their vinyl album , Nightingales and Bombs, which includes many good songs.

This topic has gone pretty well, usually when I post about musicians I get the townie types with their 'ard' opinions of right and wrong coming and fouling it up.

Well, I hope I'm not one them.

Some musicians that have played with Manfred Mann band: Jack Bruce (just before starting Cream), Klaus Voorman (played with Beatles and many English and American bands.)

Most of Manfred Mann's singles were covers: Mighty Quinn was written by Bob Dylan, Blinded by the Light is by Bruce Springstein. Others: Do Wa Diddy, Sha LA LA, Just Like a Women, Smokestack Lightnin'

Yeah, they did cover quite a bit - luckily they made enough changes to make the song their own.
