Magneto might just be the greatest comic villain of all time.
The House of M crossover was also one of the greatest storylines of this past decade.
I'd go further and call him the greatest character in Marvel. Maybe even in all of comics.
Originally posted by darvlayI always had a soft spot for Sinister. He was always lurking in the background, pulling strings, always avoiding direct confrontation. He'd wait for his moment and then just give things a little push. On top of that the true extent of his powers is unknown, he'd only use what he needed to to get the job done, not go blazing in.
Doom is great too. Another one of my favourites.

My Secret Wars bonanza has just begun again... It's crazy to think I first read these comics 25 years ago... I could upload the files to megaupload/rapidshare if anyone wants them. PM me and i'll decide if I like you enough to bother.

By the way, if you like Secret Wars, I would urge you to read the Infinity Gauntlet series. My favourite series of all time.
I'm guessing Adam Warlock would somewhat concur seeing as he is named after the main hero. 🙂
Originally posted by adam warlockyou must be joking. they're just picking animals, adding the suffix "-man" or "-woman" and copying the animals' traits in the simplest way possible. or picking a noun in general. or a character from greek mytholygy. it's just recycling with the least amount of work. and dc was doing exactly the same.
Dude, that's what got Marvel in top: character depth and evolution.
there really wasn't much difference between either of them ever, and the whole rivalry was just a marketing ploy. as stan lee's comments also later revealed.
ALL of the characters could've easily been much more complex and thus interesting from the beginning. and 90% should've been aborted.
fortunately we've seen some improvement from 80s onwards, but the bulk of the characters still are damn weak. and why is there a billion of them to begin with anyway? (well, probably to increase merchandise) you only need a handful of good ones. pick out the magnetos and wolverines, and scrap all the rest.
unfortunately now that disney's taking over, it's quite likely that it'll be the magnetos & wolverines which will be scrapped or watered down. which was my original concern.

But pick three non-obvious weak characters.
Originally posted by wormwoodI would hope that Disney has the wherewithal and business acumen to let Marvel act independently and only be the means to float the highly successful films and subsequent spin-offs.

Is Disney still in the business of strictly family entertainment? I think that went out the window when they bought Miramax.
