In 1955, my grandfather was given 6 months to live. The doctor told my grandmother
and my father to get his affairs in order quickly.

My grandfather died in 1976. Doctors are not always correct, are they?
In 1960, my grandmother was given 2 weeks to live.

She died 3 1/2yrs. later!

They got it wrong alot back in those days.

We never know when the end is coming for sure, even today.

IF it were me I'd get my affairs in order. I most likely wouldn't share it with the GF!

But then, that is me. Everyone handles things differently.

FYI:

chink is an offensive word towards the chinese. It is considered a racist term by Asian people.

chink as in armour the other (the slur you refer to) would be capitalized.

"Max, seven months." What if the patient in view is you? How do you tell the children? What would you do?"

Why would you want to be in my shoes? They're old and tattered and not becoming of a man of your status.
