How long do these games actually last?

A quick glance allows me to estimate the answer at about 30 turns. In real time this is about seven months.
All right, no1, I'll just go in for my own country then.

I've asked to join the game but won't be part of any war-board. Interesting idea, though. Would you be handling the diplomacy?
--ATY, funnily enough, one of the Muslim nations is also my first choice.

Those Viking infantry are indeed brutal. They're the best heavy footmen in the game even without their Marine capabilities. How do they stack up against your Elite Marines with respect to being Marines alone?
EDIT - The Nordic Warriors seem a bit better overall. The only advantage the Elite Marines have as far as I can tell is a better Combat/Cost ratio. Everything else favors the NWs.

4 Elite Marines: 120 CS, 9.2 HP.
3 Viking Warriors: 111 CS, 9 HP.
They are very close. But the upkeep on 3 Viking Warriors would be only .9 gold per turn, whereas it would be 1.6 gold per turn for the 4 Elite Marines.
Originally posted by rwingettAs a practical matter, units with larger hit points stay around longer and continue to give out punishment, esp. in a larger army. Plus NW's are better as marines and amphibious troops because they take up the same storage space as the Elite Marines. I luvvvvvvvvv my Elite Marines which are rampaging through previously held by Hungarian territory, but the Vikings are the way to go.

No1, I don't think heavier units stick around longer in reality. If such units get injured they have a chance to die proportional to their injury.
So, suppose I have three 1 HP troops and you have one 3 HP troop. Both sides take 1 damage. I will definitely lose 1 HP worth of units; you have a 1/3 chance of losing 3 HP worth of units. It's dead even.
EDIT - Never mind. I think I'm wrong. Heavier units will last longer in combat since the "death from minor wounds" factor only kicks in at the end of the combat. I think.

Got this from the GM:
This is a note by the GM that there will be a veterans game held soon. This is only for experienced players who are looking for a major challenge (themap will have some of the best and most experienced players). To join, you must have completed at least 10 turns in a current MD game, without missing a turn, and should be ...[text shortened]... d prefer people who are already playing the first MD game.
Anybody else interested?

Did anyone here get accepted into the veterans game apart from me, ATY and Bosse? And did you guys get the turn file because I sure as hell didn't and don't seem to be able to d/l it from the site either 😕
I'm the Mamlukes. What nations are you and Bosse?
