Originally posted by AThousandYoungThat's interesting considering he's probably going to have an army adjacent to or in the same provinces as your forces near Venice next season. Your Bavarian friend is relying on those forces to help him take Venice (it won't work but still .....). Will you declare war on Poland if it attacks the Horde and then fight a battle in Istria against them? Let me know; we'll sell tickets and watch from the mighty walls of Venice.
I've communicated with Poland letting him know that any hostilities towards the Horde and even the presence of large armies on the Horde's border will not/are not appreciated by Hungary, the Khan's ally. Hopefully he will see the light of reason. If not, more loots for us I guess.
If you wish, the Republic would be happy to assist you in destroying the Polish menace for the cheap price of the return of my provinces and the scuttling of your junks polluting Dalmatia's harbor. Have your people give my people a call.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungYou see, this is exactly what I had in mind when I said it would be difficult to hold larger coalitions together (or something along those lines).

I just hope the price of Venetian popcorn is reasonable.
Originally posted by orfeoI'll be fascinated to see what happens. Poland has moved two reasonably sized armies to the Horde border and can seize two absolutely unprotected provinces this turn. The Mongols don't have any forces closer than 4 provinces away. They obviously moved those troops into position with the intention of striking at the Horde and those troops are not in range of any other realm this turn. Will Poland sacrifice gold provinces that can be easily taken based on a warning from a nation that is heavily engaged in a war? I doubt it; I think the Poles are going in.

EDIT - And not just because of Hungary; the Horde alone will tear Poland apart even without my help.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungWTF??? Me??? Your Bavarian ally is the one who says he talked to the guy for a half hour on Messenger! There's a Polish army coming toward Venice; how can you even suggest I have any influence over Poland? And if I did, he'd be coming after you and your Bavarian buddy, not the Horde. Maybe you should ask KW what EXACTLY he promised Poland to get him to send an army against the Republic.

EDIT: I rate the Polish army as about equal to the Horde; the Mongols have about 300 more Combat Strength, but the Poles have about 30 extra hit points.
EDIT, EDIT: According to the GM this guy's been playing MD for 2 years, so the "inexperience" thing is out.
Really? I remember something about him complaining how taking over an abandoned position in an established game was a "poor introduction to the game" or something on the discussion board. Maybe that was someone else talking about him and making assumptions.
EDIT - It was someone else who actually was a noob who experienced a similar situation. So the guy's a veteran eh? Hmm. Doesn't bode well for you, Khan.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungMy understanding was that only people who had played before were on the list to come into games partway through.

If that's NOT the case, then I shall be renewing my diatribe against the GM and arguing that Poland was rightfully mine, regardless of which century we're in.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungGet with the program; that was me wondering why the hell KW would let a new guy in the game stroll into his unprotected capital when Poland could have simply broke the alliance and seized his home territories. Apparently the Bavarian promised him something really good, now what do you think that was?

EDIT: I misread your post, sorry. Yeah, that was him, but the GM told me he was a long time player. Maybe he meant that was a lousy intro to THAT game.

I have joined what I thouht was a NEW game of MQ. I
am Poland in game mmw. I have received 3 offers of alliance

one please advice .
Bill, Grand Poobah of Poland
Sounds like he was just looking for someone to tell him what was going on and the Bavarian was quite willing to. Do you think KW might have mentioned how all those Horde lands were unprotected? And how a big part of the Mongol army was in the faraway Balkans?
Originally posted by no1marauderYou need to stop trying to turn the minds of those here who may not see through your crap. We (meaning not you) know exactly what Bavaria has promised Poland for his help. And since we (again, meaning not you) know this fact, your "pondering" is superfluous and a sad attempt to foment dissension among allies.

EDIT: In fact, KW bragged about the Polish forces that are about to attack Hungary's ally on page 108:
Naturally, you are neglecting to mention that he has just used whatever funds he had to build a bigger badder army in Warsaw, or did you miss the 18 new troops there?
18 new troops in Warsaw last turn; now tell me how many troops are in Ruthenia and Krakow?
