Well, twice I got a message saying to the effect that "Sire, your orders are received and await execution" and yet the next day I got an email from the GM saying that no such orders had been received.
I'm going the email route.

No, I didn't download the NE Diploware. I was just looking at the results of previous NE games to see who had finished the game alive and I missed Poland. But that makes more sense, 6 major realms and 6 minor realms.
I tallied up the number of times each realm shared in the victory:
England 12
Austria 9
Prussia 9
Algeria 7
Bavaria 7
Ottomans 7
Nap ...[text shortened]... more often as well. Some of the minor realms, like Algeria and Bavaria, have done pretty well.
Greetings All:
The GM has made some serious changes to the NE version of the game.
The starting forces of England have been weakened and those of France
are now much stronger. Several of the minor powers have been made
stronger as well.
For those of you that have played NE in the past but, because of the
problems with game balance, have decided not to play... might I
suggest a second look?

Are we supposed to make proclamations every turn? I.e. do we get gold for proclamations every turn?
I had problems with the auto send. I send my turns via e-mail now.
I'm down for playing whatever.
MD Power Rankings -
I was looking at the strength of the various nations and have come up with a ranking based on a formula weighing, in descending order of importance, Gold value of Owned Provinces, Land Combat Ratings, Land Hit Points, Naval Combat Rating, Naval Hit Points. The results after turn 1 were as follows:
1. Byzantine Empire
2. Venice
3. Teutonic Order
4. Bavaria
5. Saxony
6. Lithuania
7. Hafsids
8. Hungary
9. France
10. Roum
11. Golden Horde
12. Aragon
13. Acquitaine
14. Arles
15. Poland
16. Castile
17. Denmark
18. England
19. Novgorod
20. Mamulukes
21. Sicily
22. Norway
23. Morocco
It is rough guide, of course, and does not take into account geographic advantages or disadvantages but I still think it's of interest. I'll update every turn and expect the countries on top will post things like "Oh, no; I've got problem A and country X on my back - I'm not that strong" and the puny ones at the bottom will bluster "We are far stronger than the fact we only have 2 Muslim Mounted Archers as our entire standing army makes us appear [hypothethical]" etc. etc. etc.

NM, I see you wrote "the results after turn 1 were as follows". So this is for our specific game. Well I'm glad I'm closer to the top than the bottom anyway. Interesting how you're #2 🙂.
We really need to get another game of NE or the fantasy one or something. This game moves too slow 🙁.
I'm surprised Western Europe is faring so poorly on your ranking scale. I'd have thought they'd have a natural advantage with their stronger troops. I suppose their terrain may help them...England probably should be moved higher due to them being the only ones on their islands.
Any chance you could find a way to apply this to the game as it existed at the start?
Originally posted by AThousandYoungIt's strength as of the end of the first turn in our game. Some countries grabbed a good amount of gold producing provinces, some grabbed none. Some substantially increased the size of their land forces, some did not - a few even lost strength (England, Poland, Sicily, Mamalukes) due to battle losses outstripping newly built units. Naval strength appeared to stay about the same; there were no naval losses and only a few countries built more ships.

EDIT: Sure; I'll pull up the first turn and re-check the numbers - I have most of them written down anyway. Post it in a bit or maybe during lunch tomorrow.
EDIT: I've got six down for NE and we need 6 more plus anybody from MD would have to go Royalty immediately in MD to be allowed in a second game.
