I am the King of France, as well as England and Ireland, in Napoleonic times. In these medieval days, there is no King of France; I suppose I could lay claim to the title as well as anyone! But I am too far away...I am King of Hungary in the 1300's.
Charles IV, known as "The Fair", was King of France in 1320, the year MD starts. http://britannia.com/history/resource/france.html

The Hundred years War also started in 1337 when England's King Edward II tried to lay claim to the throne of France.

So based on this King Freddie needs to lay claim to the French Throne in turn 17 (if we are using year per turn as a general rule.) 😛

Well, he's certainly not the most ambitious or talkative of Kings...

Not really - it was only a 6 year reign. Charles IV le Bel reigned from 1322 until 1328.

He must be related to the Byzantine Emperor.😛

It will wake up tomorrow. There's not a whole lot to talk about on Tuesday.

Oh, I am sure there will be buzz about what will be happening with the turns having been turned in....then, of course, once we have the results. Should be an interesting turn. Aside from my own efforts, I am curious of the outcome in the Northeast with the Teutonic Order. He still has 3 active enemies and has shown some intelligence in his choices from last turn.

Who controls Zeeland? I am at work and it's a pain to download the turn here on this POS computer. On Rob's map, I can't tell if it's the Norse or the Russians (Novgorod).

Sigh. A brilliant game spoiled by incompetent operators. Happily I've got my major moves in and these are just a few tweaks. Don't ask for two moves a week given they can barely handle one:

Technically, Norway but jointly occupied with Saxony.

Who's army's this?

The Return

See, they return; ah, see the tentative
Movements, and the slow feet,
The trouble in the pace and the uncertain
Wavering!

See, they return, one, and by one,
With fear, as half-awakened;
As if the snow should hesitate
And murmur in the wind,
and half turn back;
These were the "Wing'd-with-Awe,"
Inviolable.

Gods of the wingèd shoe!
With them the silver hounds,
sniffing the trace of air!

Haie! Haie!
These were the swift to harry;
These the keen-scented;
These were the souls of blood.

Slow on the leash,
pallid the leash-men!

The Teuton navy was wiped out in battle with Novgorod, leaving the Novs with but 1 carrack.
