Exactly. Can I board his ship from any of the provinces bordering it? Or do I have to leave from a harbour?

Also, does Freddie need to give me some sort of permission?
You need to give the order to your army "Board Foreign Fleet" and than tell Freddie what Army # is going to be ready to board.
He then needs to load the army, sail to where you want to land and unload them there.

An army can be loaded onto a fleet from any province bordering a sea; you don't need to use a harbor. If you click on the sea on the map, it will tell you what provinces border it. And vice versa for the province.

Ships can pick troops up from any province that has an adjacent sea-route--in your case, all but Pamplona. Fred just orders his ships to pick you up and drop you.
Cool.

Yes. No1 is right. You don't need to board from a harbour.

Byzantium is now bot controlled. I expect Poland to go the same route.
How do you know that?

The email we received about the new turn states that Byzantine is locally controlled.

Poland has a new ruler, however. Look at the email address change.

He was listed last season, too. He still didn't submit a move.

He who sleeps in R'lyeh, trapped by the stars and the seas beyond the lands of the yellow Mongols, may well regard sentient beings thus. However he has little to do with us.
Well do I know the Old Ones keep separate demesnes, yet what stirs the tentacles of one will stimulate the desire of another. Your god is not of this world. We, on the other hand, seek to confront Earth's true ruler.

Byzantium will soon be reduced to an (impregnable) stub.

Will the bot send troops to reclaim its former territories, or will it simply sit & stew?

I think it's important to take out bots as soon as they appear.

Public service announcement: you can't march troops & board them on ships in one turn.

The way I understand it, it won't try to reclaim its former territories but any subsequent territories it loses.

Taking it immediately would be a plus because otherwise it will just sit there and build troops. There should come a time, though, when its garrison and HQ expenses will be eating up all its income and it can't build more. I think.

Who, the Christ? Fools. He is the eternal Victim and Prey. He is unworthy of worship.

So who is the "Earth's True Ruler"?
