Ragnorak: "I always think of it as a benevolent dictatorship."
What I might be having difficulty understanding now is whether it is a benevolent dictatorship or a plain aul despotic one.

Well, the thread is back. I doubt it would be back if Ragnorak hadn't said anything. The fact that this is not a democracy doesn't mean you shouldn't say if you dislike the decisions which are made, or that nothing will change if you do so.

Hm, if it's just closed, I think Russ doesn't do himself a favour - it seems that people always tend to mention a good deal of negative stuff about gameknot in threads which go into that subject, so if he had left it open, it would probably have turned into good anti-advertisement.

Originally posted by NordlysAt the time I made the post there was also a thread in the "chess only" forum about the top 100 on gameknot. Hope that clears it up for you.

Thanks for defusing me. ๐ (I am still confused about ichabod and Monroe, though... ๐ )
While we're at it, is there anything else I can clear up here?

So what's an ichabod crane? And "Monroe" was your association...
Ichabod crane is the teacher in the story "The legend of sleepy hallow" which is about the headless horseman.

Hopscotch, yes he really does love you.
No I really don't.
Thought it interesting that the mention of gameknot was allowed. With that said. If this were my site (obviouisly it's not) yes the mere mention of another site for any reason would have been deleted. I don't expect to find Holiday Inn advertised at the Radisson. I won't Wal-mart mentioned at Target. I don't see the difference here. Being aware that there is compitetion out there doesn't mean you should allow advertising for them, even if the talk went in a negative format.
