The origins of the Devil's Dictionary can be traced to when Ambrose Bierce was a columnist in the San Francisco-based News Letter, a small weekly financial magazine which had been founded by Frederick Marriott in the late 1850s. The News Letter, although a serious magazine aimed at businessmen, contained a page set aside for informal satirical content, entitled The Town Crier. Bierce was hired as this page's editor in December 1868, writing with satire, irreverence and a lack of inhibition, thus becoming known as the 'laughing devil' of San Francisco.

I have had posts removed and moved, and never received any message. I am pretty sure it all depends on who you are, if you get a message about it or not. I agree, that not everyone is treated the same.
You were sent a message once when you were off topic.

If an entire thread is moved or removed, not every participant gets a message.

You don't seem to have any posts singled out for removal beyond the off topic stuff some time back, you seem to be a pretty typical poster not looking to press the boundaries of the moderation system. If you were posting things that were getting plucked from existing threads, you would get a message.

Also, people are not treated different by moderators. How they react and deal with the messages IS quite different, and may lead users here to believe some are singled out.

Most users take the message for what it is, and move on. Others fight, complain, and swear they are singled out because they believe they are the only ones having posts removed. Some users choose to believe them, although this has been explained before. Many users are sent messages every week, but the few who complain look like they are the only ones having posts removed if you decide to not listen to the other side of the coin.

My initial post isn't about moderation. It's about creativity.
Do you really think the moderation in the general forum stifles your creativity? I find that very hard to believe.

I stand corrected, forgot about that message, completely slipped my mind ! I still don't believe I was off topic, but I guess that is left up to the moderator who is looking after it...If that moderator is a friend of the other poster who could actually be considered being off topic also, and their post is not removed, then it does indeed look like unfair and bias treatment.
Here is what I think, if a certain moderator happens to be good friends with a certain poster, then some other moderator should be looking after it, not the moderator who is a friend, who is going to see and take the friends side majority of the time.... ( this is not personally against you) Just in my opionion a more fair way to deal with moderation.
There is no need in putting any effort into arguing a certain point at a certain time, because right or wrong, the Moderator is always considered to be right, if feed back is sent.
An example of ( A certain moderator) calling myself and another Subscriber ladies, that was just plain rude, and uncalled for as far as I am concerned. Yes I sent "Send Feedback", it was a waste of time. My answer it would be put on file. WOW !!!
Anyways, I have probably said more than my two cents on the subject here.

If there were posts left behind, they should also have been removed.

Yes.

I can show various examples of my work which have been removed which could in all seriousness not offend or hurt any thirteen year old (but that's the argument used).

This demotivates me. And I write less because of it.

So, that makes me wonder how to regain motivasion within the current settings and limitations. And I just ain't finding it.

The solution is simple.

Start a clan.
Just use the private forum that comes with it.
Make announcements in the public forums so your fan club will know where to find your writings.
Invite them to come on over and join the clan.
You get to run it however you want. Your rules!
No moderation.
No problems.
You now have an outlet for your literary product.

But wait, there's more!!
No critics or bad reviews either.
You can just kick anyone out of the clan who doesn't appreciate your prose!
Hey, it doesn't get any better than that!

I think this solution has been suggested before.

Shav... do you think perhaps there might be some fun and interesting stuff I write in private that I don't write in public? Remember the time I asked you to join my clan and you said "It's not worth it unless I can SHOCK unsuspecting users..."?

RHP Public Forums Phlabs is a different poster then Private Forum Posting Phlab because I understand there is a time and place for everything.

If you realize something is in the wrong place at the wrong time, expect it to be removed.

You act like you have a right to post what you like, yet admit you know it's not the right place. That's conflicting info.
