I'm playing a second game for free at the moment and I'm not royalty.

I don't think you do. I think the restriction is only on playing two of the same game at the same time. If you were to play two Medieval Diplomacy games at the same time, you'd have to be royalty in one of them. But I think you can play one of each different game without having to be royalty in any of them. I'm not 100% certain on that, though.

OK, now I am thoroughly confused about this issue. I had thought I'd cleared it up that I needed to be Royal in MD2 to play NE.

I may be wrong about that. I thought that I had once played in two differenct games, both as a commoner. But I may be mistaken.

Edit: Besides, you've got 8 provinces now. Why not become a royal?

OK, I'm confused as well. I was going by the info given at the Medieval Diplomacy website which seems quite clear:

The GM enjoys hosting games, and there are always positions available for new people (current players always have priority for signing up for new games). However, the GM can host only a limited number of games, so to be fair to everyone on the waiting list, we ask that each person plays in only 1 game at the same time. This includes all games hosted by A.G.E. games. The following exceptions apply to the 1 game at a time rule:

A) If you have Royalty status (a special status explained in the rulebook) in 1 game, then you may join 2 games at the same time. B) If you are in a game that is nearing its end (you expect it will be completed in 2 turns or less), then you are welcome to sign up for another game.
C) If your position is relatively hopeless, then you are also welcome to sign up for another game.
C) Once you have played 10 turns in a row without missing a turn, you are considered a Veteran, and are then eligible to be a replacement in a current game. This is if you are already in a game, and you wish to join another as a replacement for a player that cannot continue. In this case, just sign up normally, and indicate that you would like a replacement position.

I'll PM everybody on the list for their e-mail address; if people already in MD want to try to give a second one and not purchase Royalty status, that's up to them. I suppose the worst that could happen is that they'd be booted from one or both games. I'm dog tired now, but will send the PM's in the morning.

If it's not too late, I want in. I'll probably be completely hopeless, but what the heck.

Great, that gives us an even dozen. I'll be sending generic PM's requesting e-mail addresses; please respond promptly and I'll contact the GM as soon as they are all in.

Generic refers to the content of the PM, not the number of people to whom it is sent.

You of all people should be alive to these subtleties.

I have 11 e-mail addresses of interested players and will send them to AgeofGames in the morning. Malinga and Warruff have not responded to my PM; if either responds tomorrow, I'll include them on a "first come, first serve" basis. If not, I'll go with the 11 we have.

holy shish-kebab!! Somehow I've managed to bypass my works 'no instalation' rule and got the game installed. If the other 2 don't get back to you can I take the 12th place? I fully expect to get my ass kicked, but I really like the Napoleonic era so it should be entertaining anyway.

I set an e-mail to AgeofGames today requesting that they start up a game of NE with the following players:

no1Marauder
Rwingett
NicolaiS
Halitose
BuffaloBill
AThousandYoung
Puffito1
Dyl
Nook7
Warruff
Orfeo
Mayharm

I got back a generic e-mail confirming receipt of my message and stating they would contact me in 1-3 days. So I'm guessing we wouldn't be starting until next week at the earliest. When I have more info, I'll let ya know.
