My ex was born on New Year's Eve. When he reached his teens, his birthday was never really celebrated as a night out with friends that was special for him, everybody was so wrapped up in doing the New Year thing.
Some people even gave him a joint xmas and birthday present! I suggested he returned the favour, even if their birthday was in the summer 😀

New Years is over rated. It's expensive to go out and public transport is useless. Taxis charge double and most pubs charge you to get in. I'd rather stay in with the kids. 🙂
