I want one - but I just don't know which one. 🙁
Help.
Is that too vague?
Basically - I like the wii for 2 reasons. 1.Price 2.Comes with free online play and has a wireless internet adapter built in. (I think..) which is what I want - non-wireless means setting up my TV in another room.
Xbox360 has better graphics, a regular controller (I'm super skeptical of the "wii-remote" ), and a better game line up (Gears of War looks amazing)
PS3 - Has to be the best overall, it's just amazing.
But...
The wii has terrible graphics, a controller that seems like it might get annoying, and pretty much no good titles excluding Zelda.
360 is more expensive, doesn't have the wireless internet option, and requires money for "Gold" membership on Live.
Ps3 - Is insanely expensive ($599) but I think it includes a wireless adapter.
What do I do?
Originally posted by cmsMasterThe PS3 is, by all accounts, a huge disappointment. Despite production delays, it still manages to feel rushed to market. The UI is buggy, too -- and in the first weekend Sony had to promise future updates to the firmware and such.

Not getting my $600, bro.
Xbox 360 looks to have settled into the market well, and they did a lot right this time. Easy to use, powerful, and a high attach rate for software.
Nintendo always has great updates of their franchise games. But you have to like those franchises. I've always detested Mario games, from the stupid character design to the cloying premises. That said, Shigeru Miyamoto really knows how to blow people away with innovative gaming experiences. That new controller could wind up changing everything.
For now, though, I'll stick with my ultra-modded Xbox.

I guess you're part of an older generation where online play doesn't really matter much - but to me it's essential. Nothing gets better than playing with a community, it's what makes games like Counter Strike (I played Source a lot for some 6 months before taking a break) and World of Warcraft (which I've avoided so as not to become...well, like most WOW players) so popular.
Really? Here I'll confess my ignorance -- I don't know much about the role Xbox Live plays in the 360 experience. What irks you?
Originally posted by cmsMasterYeah, I actually preferred just playing Halo on System Link.

But don't they yet have Xlink Kai for the 360? That's a free online gaming tunnel we've had for the Xbox for years now.

Nintendo has its standard platforms, if you love them then go for it. Xbox will be offering more adult oriented games. PS3 as usual will try to be the happy medium but destroy them all when it comes to RPGS, personally ill get the ps3 for that reason alone.
Originally posted by cmsMasterI'm probably going with a Wii because it's cheaper now, and I want to download all the old Super Nintendo, N64, and Genesis games. Plus they have Zelda, which nearly every outlet is reporting as amazing.

The more simplistic graphics don't bother me too much. I've simply relegated graphics intensive games to my computer.
Originally posted by slickhareActually, all game companies sell their hardware at a loss (at least in the beginning). The systems themselves are loss leaders, but the companies make back the $ in games sales during the system's lifespan, and in achieving an high attach rate at the time of purchase: that is, the schlock 'n games you buy along with the system itself.
i hear 360 and ps3 are very close in terms of power. even if 360 is a bit less powerful... just look at the price tag of ps3, i hear sony's already selling them at a loss and not getting the sales they expected at launch... i don't smell a price reduction any time soon.
So I'd be surprised if any of the big three are selling their systems at anything other than a loss right now. MS might be closer to breaking even now, as the hardware is older and components get cheaper/designs get more efficient.
