Yes, some pictures are more difficult than others. I remember I had a picture which got artifacts even with slight compression. I tried everything, but didn't get a very satisfactory result.

If you wish, you can send me the original along with the compressed picture, and I can try if I can do any better.

I just click on image, scale image, and change the image size. Should I adjust the X & Y resolution?

Then I click save as, and set the slider to best quality.

No, changing the X Y resolution doesn't actually achieve anything except tell other software how to size the thing.

I take it you use Cubic interpolation?

OOh and do a tiny bit of unsharp mask after scaling.

Changing dots per inch doesn't achieve anything, but changing the amount of pixels for width and height certainly does. I'm not sure what Ragnorak means exactly.

It is pixels/inch, so no use changing that.

Any more pics received? You don't have to say from whom. Just wondering how it's coming along.

Here's an updated list of upcoming rounds. There have been so many suggestions that I could only include a small part of them - it will take about a year to get through all these rounds, and I don't think it's useful to plan further ahead. This is just a proposal - if you don't like my choices, please speak up (but don't hit me)! I haven't included another " ...[text shortened]... . Blue
21. Red
22. Yellow
23. Landscape
24. Abstract
25. Architecture
26. Glass
So is this the correct list of current upcoming rounds?

I thought we were going to do the three colours in one round idea next. I'm not sure what will happen after that one, I guess it depends on how quickly we find a way to determine what topics from the long list we compiled are chosen.

Thanks for reminding me... No, that's not the correct list. As DdV mentioned, it has been suggested to have a Three Colours round next, and the themes of the following rounds should be decided by vote. We'll have to decide on superordinate categories (e.g. Nature, Abstract, Photo Technique) and make a list of suggestions for each superordinate category, and then people can vote for their favourites in each super-category.

However, I think this will take some time. Also, people may already have been preparing for or looking forward to the categories which have been planned for a long time. So my suggestion is that we finish the old list minus "Motion/Movement", then do the Colour round, and then start with the new categories which at that point will have been decided on by vote. If we'd follow my suggestion, the list would look like this:

15. Home (can be in your home, or just in the locality that you would regard as home)
16. Words / Letters
17. Advanced Editing
18. Blue/Red/Yellow (people enter one picture per colour; voting is for each colour and an overall winner)
???

What do you think?
