T-5 days to get out of bed at 6am.

So who's in? I have my 3, I think. The weather looks to have beaten me on the 6am rise, though. 😞 And I was so looking forward to it.
Getting the files to under 200kb is tough. One of my photos is suffering from serious artifacts. All I'm doing is using Gimp to resize the photo and then saving. Any better way to go about it?

I usually resize to 700 x 513 (or whatever the vertical number is) to maintain quality. When you subtract the address bar, menus, taskbars, etc., a ~500-pixels-tall picture fits well into a 1024 wide x 768 tall browser. (I think up to 550 pixels is safe.)

You can speak "Gimp" to me as that's what I use.

I use Photo Studio which I got with my Canon printer. I resize, and then "save as", which gives a JPG quality bar. I choose the best quality and then work downwards until the filesize is under 200kb.

How are you resizing?

Then I click save as, and set the slider to best quality.
I think it may just be the tones in the image not being suited to compression too well, as I haven't really had any problems with the others.
