I have just heard from one of my WhatsApp groups that Klemen Tinal, the Indonesian politician who had been serving as the Vice Governor of Papua Province died last week at the age of only 50. I met him a few times in the early 1990s at workshops in Sorong and Jayapura in what was then called the province of Irian Jaya. Can't say I agreed with his politics. He asked me to help him with something at the Freeport mine but I declined.
